Welcome to the bonsai styling section of West Coast Bonsai.
In the future we plan to have a number of different basic bonsai styles displayed in this section. Most of the stock we will use is common to the southern california bonsai artist.

Basic Bonsai Styling 101
To start this section off here is our first project of 2005 a small three plant group of large Hollywood Junipers.

The group was part of 5 plants taken from 15 gallon nursery stock bought in May 2002. They were about 8' tall and very stringy with little or no lower branches but for $35 each I saw some future. The first thing I did was cut them to a height of about 40" and let them go for the rest of the year. One of the plants didn't make it through the scorching summer of 2002.
